Description

Château Angélus belongs to the de Boüard de Laforest family and is one of the most emblematic names in Saint-Émilion, its golden bell on the label recalling the Angelus bells once heard in the vineyards. The 2015 still carries the Premier Grand Cru Classé "A" rank on its label and blends 62% Merlot with 38% Cabernet Franc. It was rated 97 from Robert Parker, 96 from Decanter, 96 from Wine Spectator and 97 from James Suckling.

In the glass it shows a deep colour and a nose of ripe black fruit, cedar, tobacco and graphite, with fine spice that gains complexity with air. The palate is structured and elegant, with firm yet polished tannins, fresh acidity and a long, persistent finish.

Decant one to two hours ahead and serve at 16–18 °C with roast kid, lamb chops, dry-aged beef or hard cheeses. It is a wine built for the long haul that rewards patient cellaring.
