Description
Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is a Second Growth of 1855 in Saint-Julien, owned by the Borie family for more than sixty years, with vines on the famous pebbles that give it its name. In 2018 the blend is 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot, in a style that combines power, finesse and enormous ageing potential.
In the glass it shows a deep colour and a nose of ripe black fruit, cedar, tobacco and graphite, with fine spice that gains complexity with air. The palate is structured and elegant, with firm yet polished tannins, fresh acidity and a long, persistent finish.
Decant one to two hours ahead and serve at 16–18 °C with roast kid, lamb chops, dry-aged beef or hard cheeses. It is a wine built for the long haul that rewards patient cellaring.
