Description
Tertre Roteboeuf is a Saint-Émilion cult wine created by François and Émilie Mitjavile. Although it has never sought official classification, its Merlot and Cabernet Franc reds, grown in an amphitheatre of clay and limestone, are fought over by collectors worldwide, and 2010 is one of Bordeaux's great years.
In the glass it shows a deep colour and a nose of ripe black fruit, cedar, tobacco and graphite, with fine spice that gains complexity with air. The palate is structured and elegant, with firm yet polished tannins, fresh acidity and a long, persistent finish.
Decant one to two hours ahead and serve at 16–18 °C with roast kid, lamb chops, dry-aged beef or hard cheeses. It is a wine built for the long haul that rewards patient cellaring.
