Description
Château Roumieu is a family estate passed down from generation to generation since the 18th century. Each generation has kept its love of the terroir, respect for traditional viticulture and belief in the moral duty to pass this knowledge on. The name “Roumieu” refers to an important stage on the ancient pilgrimage route of “Saint-Jacques de Compostelle”, the Way of St James, in medieval times, when “Roumieu” was used by the Moors to describe Christians. A scallop shell, adopted as the Château's emblem, appears on the label, as “Saint-Jacques” is the French word for scallop. The Château sits on the clay-limestone plateau of Haut-Barsac, on the same terroir as the most prestigious Sauternes crus, with Climens (1er cru) and Doisy-Védrines (2e cru) both adjoining the property. Over the years, the Craveia-Goyaud family has committed to protecting the terroir's unique character.
Tasting Notes: Very aromatic, with notes of lime blossom and other toasty and floral touches from the bouquet to the finish.
