Wine profile
Body
This wine: 4 out of 5 — closer to «full».
How heavy and full the wine feels in your mouth — from light like skimmed milk to rich like cream. It comes mainly from alcohol, extract and, in sweet wines, sugar.
Wine profile
Tannin
This wine: 2 out of 5 — closer to «silky».
Tannins come from grape skins, seeds and oak. You feel them as a pleasant drying grip on gums and tongue — from silky and velvety to firm and chewy.
Wine profile
Acidity
This wine: 3 out of 5 — right in the middle.
The freshness that makes your mouth water, like a squeeze of lemon. It gives a wine tension, length and ageing potential, and makes it great with food.
Wine profile
Alcohol
This wine: 5 out of 5 — closer to «high» (14.5% vol.).

Description
El Puntido 2021 is a prestige red made by the Viñedos de Páganos winery (Grupo Eguren), in Laguardia, Rioja Alavesa, Spain.
The Wine AdvocateRP 94Reviewed by: Luis Gutiérrez
The 2021 El Puntido, tasted side by side with the 2021 San Vicente, shows the differences between the villages, with El Puntido more iodine-like and mineral and San Vicente softer and more fruit-driven. These are shallow soils with abundant limestone, which gives a touch of austerity, especially at first, also because the village is closer to the Sierra de Cantabria. The wine shows notes of liquorice, a moderate 14% alcohol, and is medium- to full-bodied (a little more than usual, but with great balance), with very elegant, polished tannins. 45,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2023.
The Eguren family's Páganos project is based on 45 hectares of vines planted in 1975 and produces 100,000 bottles.
