Herdade Grande
Alentejo (Vidigueira), Portugal · since 1997
A Vidigueira estate in the Lança family since 1920, when Ernesto dos Santos Lança bought it. For decades its grapes went to the local co-operative, until in 1997 António Lança set up as a producer-bottler and released the estate's first wine. The fourth generation now runs it, with Diogo Lopes as winemaker.

Wine profile
Body
This wine: 5 out of 5 — closer to «full».
How heavy and full the wine feels in your mouth — from light like skimmed milk to rich like cream. It comes mainly from alcohol, extract and, in sweet wines, sugar.
Wine profile
Tannin
This wine: 5 out of 5 — closer to «firm».
Tannins come from grape skins, seeds and oak. You feel them as a pleasant drying grip on gums and tongue — from silky and velvety to firm and chewy.
Wine profile
Acidity
This wine: 3 out of 5 — right in the middle.
The freshness that makes your mouth water, like a squeeze of lemon. It gives a wine tension, length and ageing potential, and makes it great with food.
Wine profile
Alcohol
This wine: 5 out of 5 — closer to «high» (15% vol.).
Alcohol brings warmth and body. Still wines usually sit between about 11% and 15% ABV, while fortified wines such as Port sit around 19–20%.

Description
Herdade Grande Grande Reserva Tinto 2020 is a high-quality wine made in the prestigious Vidigueira region of the Alentejo, signed by producer António Manuel Baião Lança with winemaking by Diogo Lopes.
An intense garnet colour combines with a seductive aromatic profile, with delicious notes of ripe fruit and homemade jam, subtly married with a delicious aroma of vanilla and spice. On the palate it's powerful and intense. With robust tannins and well-matched acidity, it ends long and elegant.
