Description

Thibault Liger-Belair Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Saint-Georges" 2022 shows striking, complex character. The 2022 vintage was particularly challenging, with some hail that ended up concentrating the wine.

Origin: Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, France.

Producer: Thibault Liger-Belair, one of the talents of his generation in Burgundy.

Vineyard: "Les Saint-Georges" is one of the most emblematic parcels of the appellation and the producer.

Tasting notes: Earthy notes are the most prominent, along with leather and mushrooms, according to reviews of previous vintages.

Decanter: Gave this wine 97 points, describing it as opulent, with aromas of blackberry, black fig, earth, leather and black tea, and highlighting its dense, firm texture and persistent finish.

Tim Atkin MW: Scored it 96 points, noting strawberry compote, blackberry and plum-apricot, combined with spice, smoke and tar.

Jasper Morris MW: Gave it 93–96 points, noting the extraordinarily fine nose with dark fruit and the wine's richness and concentration.

Neal Martin (Vinous): Rated it 92–94 points, describing a discreet bouquet, powdery tannins and a lively, peppery finish.

K&L Wine Merchants: Cites a score of 91–94 points from Burghound.
