Description
Filipa Pato Nossa Solera is one of Bairrada's most prestigious sparkling wines, distinguished by a dynamic ageing system rarely used for Portuguese sparkling wines.
Key Features
Solera Method: Started in 2001, this system blends wines from different vintages (at least seven distinct bases) in wooden casks. Each year, part of the oldest wine is drawn off to create the sparkling base, and the space is filled with wine from the latest vintage.
Profile: A Brut Nature sparkling wine (no added sugar), showing huge complexity, freshness and saline notes.
Grapes: Mainly Baga and Bical, with small percentages of other native grapes of the region.
Ageing: The base wine ages in 500–600-litre oak casks before the second fermentation in bottle, where it ages on lees for at least 36 months.
Tasting Notes:
Colour & aromaBright gold with a very fine bead. On the nose, notes of brioche, dried fruit, candied citrus and mineral nuances stand out. On the palate it's creamy, with lively acidity and a persistent, saline finish.
