Description
Quinta de La Rosa Tim Grande Reserva Branco 2023 is a wine of exceptional elegance and depth, a worthy tribute to Tim Berqvist's legacy. Fermented and aged for six months in French oak barrels, it develops a complex, sophisticated structure, enriched by a further 18 months in bottle that brings harmony and maturity.
AromaOn the nose it shows great refinement and aromatic intensity, with notes of ripe stone fruit, light citrus touches, toasty hints and subtle spice from well-integrated oak.
PalateOn the palate it's a food white par excellence: full-bodied, with a creamy texture and vibrant acidity that gives freshness and extends the finish. Rich flavours combine with captivating energy, giving a complex, balanced profile, both powerful and refined.
It's a wine combining character and precision, able to age with great dignity in the cellar, yet already extraordinarily enjoyable at the table with sophisticated fish, seafood or white-meat dishes.
A remarkable white that authentically expresses the Douro terroir and would no doubt honour Tim Berqvist's visionary spirit.

Winemaker Jorge Moreira was particularly pleased with the 2023 whites (and rosé), and that year they made the 2023 Tim Grande Reserva Branco, the estate's top wine. It's a creamy, elegant white, generously marked by oak ageing and designed for long development in bottle. This wine may differ from previous vintages, as it's a blend of Arinto and Alvarinho from eight-year-old vines.
It shows riper fruit and higher alcohol at 13.5%, with a pH of 3.41 and a rounder palate. Like the other whites, it fermented in a combination of stainless-steel vats and oak barrels. In this case ageing was slightly longer, eight months, with a higher proportion of new barrels, 30% of the total. I'm not a fan of “more is better”, but here the use of oak seems fully justified. 3,300 bottles were produced, filled in July 2024.
After the drought came torrential rain. 2023 and 2024 replenished groundwater and allowed fresher wines, with 2024 shaping up as a classic vintage. However, the rain after the 2025 harvest was simply excessive. At Quinta de la Rosa the effects were particularly severe. “The rain caused incalculable damage to many of our dry-stone walls, and the road between Pinhão and La Rosa is closed because of landslides. So we're quite isolated. I just hope it stops raining soon,” said owner Sophia Bergqvist in mid-February 2026.
