La Cueva del Contador 2017/2018

Benjamin Romeo is the best-known "garagista" in Spain, for the "Vins de Garage" that he produced for several years. His story begins in 1995 when he acquired a centuries-old cellar, right under the Castle of San Vicente de la Sonsierra. In 1996 he launched the first Cueva del Contador and began his career in the world of "Bodegueros". At that time, he made his wines in the garage of his house, which had been converted into a wine cellar. With the recognition that his wines began to receive from international critics, in 2000 he decided to work full-time on his wines, and was later rewarded with 100 points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate in the 2004 and 2005 harvests for his iconic wine, Contador. In 2008, a new stage in his career began with the inauguration of his new winery, an architectural monument. Today, his range is more extensive, but the quality of his wines is still very high.
