Dominio del Pidio Tinto is a wood-aged red wine made with the Tinto Fino and Albillo varieties by Cillar de Silos in the DO Ribera del Duero, in Castile and León (Spain).
Created by Cillar de Silos, Dominio del Pidio is the project developed by the Aragón brothers in the old 16th-century wine district of Quintana del Pidio. An attempt to revive a centuries-old legacy with three wines from small plots of old vines, fermented in cement and wood.
Dominio del Pidio Tinto comes from old vines located in Quintana del Pidio. These are old vines planted in clay loam and sandy loam soils, at an average altitude of 890 meters above sea level. Organic farming with biodynamic treatments is practiced, and production is of limited yield. At Quinta do Pidio Tinto, the Dominio del Pidio Tinto grapes ferment spontaneously with native yeasts in cement tanks. The wine then ages in 228 and 500-liter French oak barrels for 15 months.
Dominio del Pidio Tinto is a wine born in a municipality with an impressive wine-growing history and which reflects the essence of Ribera del Duero.
