Mário Sérgio founded Quinta das Bágeiras in 1989 in the village of Fogueira, bringing together the vineyards of both his grandfathers; the name came from locals, who would say 'there goes Fausto to his Quinta das Bágeiras'. With the support of his father, Abel, 12 hectares that had sold wine in bulk began producing wines under their own label, made with minimal intervention.

Description
The name Mário Sérgio Alves Nuno may not mean much to the less attentive, but he's nothing less than the mastermind behind Quinta das Bágeiras's great wines. The story of Quinta das Bágeiras spans 3 generations, but it was only in 1989, under Mário Sérgio, that the Quinta das Bágeiras wines began to be bottled and sold, quickly becoming a benchmark for Bairrada and Portugal.
Although made following the methods of earlier generations, Quinta das Bágeiras wines don't follow fashion, yet they're always in fashion, revealing in each vintage the character of the region and the people who make them.
