Wine profile
Tannin
This wine: 4 out of 5 — closer to «firm».
Tannins come from grape skins, seeds and oak. You feel them as a pleasant drying grip on gums and tongue — from silky and velvety to firm and chewy.
Wine profile
Acidity
This wine: 5 out of 5 — closer to «crisp».
The freshness that makes your mouth water, like a squeeze of lemon. It gives a wine tension, length and ageing potential, and makes it great with food.
Wine profile
Alcohol
This wine: 4 out of 5 — closer to «high» (13.5% vol.).

Description
Aguião Vinhão Tinto 2025 is a traditional red Vinho Verde, made from the native Vinhão grape in Arcos de Valdevez, within the Vinho Verde region. It stands out for its deep, inky colour, intense aromatic profile and the lively, food-friendly acidity typical of the variety.
Critics: The Aguião label (in previous vintages) has often been praised by Grandes Escolhas magazine for its polished structure and balance between alcohol and acidity — qualities expected to carry through to this new release.
History and Winemaking Philosophy:
Since 1995, Quinta de Aguiã has focused on getting the best from the grapes of its east-facing, mid-slope vineyards, which benefit from a special terroir.
Going against the trend of betting on white varieties, it chose to invest in Vinhão, a typical red grape of the region, championing authenticity and restoring the prestige of red Vinho Verde.
Market Impact:
It has played a significant part in the rise of Vinhão, making it an emerging variety not only in the Vinho Verde region but in other Portuguese wine regions too.
Aguião Vinhão 2025 at a glance:
A young wine with a modern profile:
Violet in colour, with a rich, very appealing nose of macerated berries and a touch of green. Big structure on the palate that wraps perfectly around the acidity, in a classic yet polished and refined style. Body, alcohol and acidity in fine balance — a benchmark red Vinho Verde.
