Founded in 1918 by Manoel Domingues Poças Júnior, the house began by selling grape spirit to Port shippers. In 1932 it received Quinta das Quartas in settlement of a debt and started making wine. It is still run by the same family, now in its fourth generation, with three estates, one in each Douro sub-region, and 76 hectares of vines.

Description
Inspired by old essences and records, the new Poças Vermouth Soberbo uses infusions of botanicals gathered on the company's Douro estates, creating an original, contemporary expression of terroir. To keep the celebratory spirit and identity of the Poças brand, the new vermouth is bottled in an old Port bottle shape called the Pota, and the label uses the lettering of some of the brand's old labels, with the words Superb Vermouth.
