Description
From the emblematic Quinta no Valle da Estrada in Medrões, Santa Marta de Penaguião, this Grande Reserva Tinto 2020 distinctly reflects the identity of the Douro's schist soils and steep slopes, where different sun exposures bring balance and freshness to the blend.
Aged for 24 months in French oak barrels (50% new, 50% second- and third-use), the wine shows a deep, elegant aromatic profile. On the nose it reveals captivating complexity, with notes of ripe black fruit (plum, cassis), graphite, tobacco and delicate violets, interwoven with a subtle balsamic touch that adds freshness and sophistication.
PalateOn the palate it impresses with tension and precision. The texture is satiny, supported by fine, well-integrated tannins that give structure and promise excellent evolution in bottle. It finishes long, with an elegant, persistent austerity reflecting the nobility of the terroir and the precise winemaking.
A serious, deep red full of character, honouring Douro tradition with a contemporary touch of finesse. Ideal with hearty dishes or for moments of contemplation.
