Diplomático Ambassador is matured in ex-bourbon casks before finishing for a couple of years in Pedro Ximénez casks, creating a great rich, fruity rum.
How should you drink and judge a rum?
First look at the colour, then the aroma and then the flavour. We want a golden, translucent spirit, best seen by gently swirling the glass — not vigorously, as with wine. Bring the glass up to your nose, but don't breathe in deeply, as we want to pick out the aromas. The last step is tasting. First take a small sip so the palate gets used to the flavour and picks up basic sensations such as sweet, salty and bitter. With the second sip, leave it in your mouth for a while. That's when you'll discover new flavours and aromas.
