Vallegre – Vinhos do Porto, SA, is a Portuguese company whose shareholders represent the 5th generation of a family deeply rooted in the Douro region, which is dedicated to the production of high-quality Port Wines and DOC Douro Table Wines. Its headquarters are at Quinta da Vista Alegre, located on the right bank of the Douro, between the mouth of the Pinhão River and Covas do Douro. The origins of this Quinta in wine production predate the 19th century. This is the conclusion that can be inferred from books specializing in grape typologies and from some abandoned terraces – the mortórios. Quinta da Vista Alegre was acquired by the Cunha Barros family in 1965, and was later integrated into the assets of Sociedade Agrícola Barros SA. Today, and without denying its past and the wisdom acquired and passed down from generation to generation, Vallegre is a modern and dynamic company, with the primary objective of producing Port Wines and DOC Douro of the highest quality. The wines are now sold and enjoyed in more than twenty-five countries, and the recent awards and distinctions received in various international competitions attest to and recognize the quality of the wines produced at this Quinta.

It spent 12 months in barrels where it also fermented. The aroma is still marked by the (good) new barrel, with toasted notes with ripe fruit and some dried fruits appearing in the background, giving the wine elegance. Smooth and unctuous, but with good acidity giving firmness and persistence. It deserves time in the cellar.
