San Román is a red wine from DO Touro made by Bodegas y Viñedos Maurodos. At the head of this winery is Mariano García, a winemaker known for being Mauro's architect and for his time at the prestigious Vega Sicilia winery, where he was responsible for producing 30 vintages of his legendary wines. San Román is a monovarietal of the Tinta de Toro variety, a typical variety from DO Touro. The grapes from different plots planted with 45-year-old vines at an altitude of 750 meters above sea level, on stony and sandy clay soils. The climate is extreme continental with very little rain, many hours of sunshine and strong thermal contrasts between day and night, which favors the correct ripening of the grapes. Each parcel is vinified separately. San Román ages for 24 months in French and American oak barrels, barrels that are renewed 20% with each harvest.
San Román is a deep, powerful and elegant Toro wine. A wine with a long growth path in the bottle.
