Description
Domaine de l'Arlésienne Beaujolais-Villages "Aux Gauthiers" 2022 is a French red made by Benoît Moreau, a renowned Burgundy winemaker who previously worked at Domaine Bernard Moreau.
Gamay “Aux Gauthiers”: Description
From a single plot at 520 metres comes this 100% Gamay, from old vines planted between the 1940s and 1970s. In the glass it's a luminous ruby, with subtle violet glints hinting at its vivacity.
AromaThe nose is direct and captivating, dominated by fresh fruit (cherry, raspberry and blueberry) wrapped in delicate floral notes of violet and lavender. In the background, nuances of dried herbs and a light spicy touch add complexity.
PalateOn the palate it's light and elegant, with a silky texture and fine tannins that almost melt away. Vibrant acidity gives freshness and energy, lengthening a fruity, persistent finish.
Made with a biodynamic, minimal-intervention approach, this wine ferments with native yeasts and includes about 30% whole bunches. Stainless-steel ageing preserves aromatic purity and the natural expression of the fruit.
This wine stands out for its purity and elegance, often described as a "comfort wine" that rivals Cru producers such as Morgon.
