97 points Robert Parker
Refined and infinitely beautiful, without a doubt a great Barolo. With a sublime nose, broad in aromas, fruity and expressive, complete and precise on the palate; a wine with a good structure, well-made, with tannins still present that will reward those who know how to wait patiently for their best moment. An iconic Barolo.

Monica Larner: The last wine served at my tasting at the winery was the GD Vajra 2019 Barolo Bricco delle Viole. With its elevated location in the hills west of Barolo, Bricco delle Viole stands out for its unique soils (with Sant’Agata marl and fossils) and even for its unusual harvest times. Slow and careful maturation, as characterized by the 2019 vintage, results in a very delicate and ethereal expression, with notes of floral, wild mint and licorice. This organic wine has a solid and well-constructed structure. In fact, Isidoro Vaira comments that the tannins of Nebbiolo have changed since the 1970s and 1980s. Due to climate change and stylistic preferences, they are now more polished and accessible.
In my opinion, the most interesting wine portfolio in Piedmont is that carefully crafted by GD Vajra. Given the variety of flavors and the many local grapes used, my annual tasting at this winery is always one of my favorites. This year, I tasted the wines with Isidoro Vaira, one of three brothers who run the winery with their sister Francesca and brother Giuseppe. Their parents, Milena and Aldo Vaira, are also actively involved in the winery, making it a dynamic family business.
