Niepoort Baton 2021/2022

Niepoort Batuta is a red wine from the Douro where every detail is carefully considered to obtain a complex, fine and elegant wine.

The grapes used to produce this wine come from Carril, a vineyard that is over 70 years old and faces north, and from old vines that are around 100 years old, close to Quinta de Nápoles. Batuta is the result of a delicate vinification process, with prolonged maceration but little extraction, where every detail is carefully considered to obtain a complex, fine and elegant wine.

Niepoort Batuta 2021 has a deep and vibrant ruby ​​colour. On the nose, it reveals an impressive complexity, with notes of ripe red and black fruits, such as cherry and blackcurrant, enveloped by subtle floral nuances and a touch of fine spices. The wood is perfectly integrated, giving light aromas of cedar and graphite, without overpowering the expression of the terroir.

In the mouth, it shows a remarkable structure, with silky and well-defined tannins. Despite its concentration, characteristic of old Douro vines, it maintains a captivating freshness and an elegant profile. The finish is long, balanced and harmonious, leaving a persistence of wild fruits and a slight minerality.

A wine that combines power and sophistication, reflecting the essence of the Douro with delicacy and depth. Ideal for aging, but already offering great pleasure when tasted.
