This old-vine vineyard, planted in 1937, is located across the street from Clos de la Marechale and Clos l'Arlot. These are the first vineyards in this Villages appellation, in an incredible location with lots of limestone. Vinified with 40% whole bunches in 30% new barrels. A Pinot of finesse and freshness.
Thibault Liger-Belair, based in Nuits-Saint-Georges, is one of the great talents of his generation in Burgundy. From his family, who have been growing vineyards since the 18th century, he inherited parcels and vineyards such as Richebourg, Clos de Vougeot and Les Saint Georges, and over the years he has added others in the region and also in Beaujolais, as well as making some cuvées with grapes from partner vignerons. His production has recently moved to an incredible new winery that is completely self-sustainable, with geothermal pipes, recycled materials, solar energy and even extracting his own sulphite from a mine in Hungary. He is certified organic and works the vineyards with biodynamic concepts. His production philosophy is minimalist, without excessive wood and using reductive processes to protect and add complexity. Natural fermentations and the use of whole bunches in different proportions when he deems necessary. His style is striking and with a classic signature that has already made a name for himself among Burgundy lovers.
Vibrant and ripe fruit profile, with cherries, blackberries and plums. The freshness of the whole bunches is evident and in the mouth it has great acidity tension and a tasty finish.
