Quinta da Pellada Golden Tooth Red 2019

“With the grapes purchased from small plots I make 1/2 barrels of wine and one of these wines is called Dente de Ouro, because the woman who sold it to me has a gold tooth”. Quinta da Pellada Dente D'Ouro spent 16 months in used French oak barrels. The wine is made from several native grape varieties, mainly Jaen and Baga. The grapes come from a very old vineyard with vines that are between 80 and 100 years old. It is very important for Alvaro Castro to show that it is really possible to revive the tradition of blending fields and native vines in his area of ​​Dão. The wine shines with ruby ​​red with violet “nuances”. It shows a beautiful fresh and mineral aroma, fine and incredibly complex, with notes of blackberry and plum. On the palate, a medium concentration, aromas of blueberry, hints of spices and some earthy notes, as well as improbably silky tannins, absolutely attractive. A light, elegant and very fresh red wine, juicy, with mineral notes and wild berries, with a long, deep and very fine finish. Wonderfully multi-layered and with elegant precision. Simply sublime!
