Description
El Castro de Valtuille Joven 2022 is a Spanish red from Bierzo, made mainly from Mencía by one of the world's most prestigious winemakers, Raúl Pérez.
Raúl Pérez needs no introduction: one of the world's best growers and award-winning many times over. This Valtuille is an exquisite young Mencía for every budget, letting us get close to Bierzo's exciting native grape in all its splendour, with very little influence from ageing in old 5,000-litre wood, and enjoy the mysteries of the master winemaker.
• 91+ Points Robert Parker (The Wine Advocate): Awarded by the prestigious critic Luis Gutiérrez. The "+" indicates the wine exceeded expectations for its category and has potential to evolve even better in bottle. It was praised as a "juicy, fruit-focused and very approachable" red.
• 93 Points James Suckling: Suckling is widely known for valuing wines with excellent energy, purity of fruit and liveliness, qualities that align perfectly with the profile of this red by Raúl Pérez.
.• 91 Points Guía Peñín: Spain's most important wine guide rated it 91 points, consolidating its status as a top-quality benchmark among young Spanish reds.
• 90 Points Enterwine: The Spanish review portal confirmed the consistency and balanced profile of this vintage.
