G.D. Vajra Barolo Bricco Delle Viole 2021 is a prestigious organic red from one of the highest, coolest vineyards in Barolo, Italy. Critics widely consider this vintage "epic", and it stands out for its verticality, purity of fruit and ageing potential.

The organic G.D. Vajra 2021 Barolo Bricco delle Viole at first shows a fragile side, but gradually gains much more momentum and focus as it opens in the glass. This is always one of my favourite wines from this excellent producer, and I especially appreciate it for its delicate nuances of redcurrant, pressed flower and a light salty touch reminiscent of peat moss. There's also a hint of struck stone or flint. All these small details emerge with impressive clarity in an epic vintage like 2021.

The grapes come from a seven-hectare vineyard at 400 to 480 metres, on Sant'Agata marl soils with marine fossils.

For critic James Suckling, G.D. Vajra Barolo Bricco Delle Viole 2021 is "purity in a bottle", and he gave it 97 points in January 2025.

Wine Spectator gave G.D. Vajra Barolo Bricco Delle Viole 2021 97 points, naming it a "Hot Wine" in its August 2025 issue. Critic Bruce Sanderson highlights its rich, juicy nature.
