Tannins come from grape skins, seeds and oak. You feel them as a pleasant drying grip on gums and tongue — from silky and velvety to firm and chewy.

Description
The wine Ogier Clos de l'Oratoire des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2023 stands out for its balance and elegance, with a medium-bodied profile, soft tannins and refined notes of red fruit and spice. Made by the renowned Maison Ogier, it faithfully reflects the complexity of the soils of the prestigious Rhône Valley.
Clos de l'Oratoire des Papes 2023 is made in the prestigious Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine region, in the Southern Rhône, south-east France. It was the country's first official appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC), in 1923.
95 PointsJames Suckling
L'Oratoire des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Tinto 2023 received an excellent 95 points from James Suckling's team. In his review, published in April 2025, critic Stuart Pigott highlights the remarkable harmony between deep aromas of tar and dry earth and a surprising freshness for a vintage marked by hot, dry conditions.
Made from a blend centred on old-vine Grenache, this Châteauneuf-du-Pape is juicy, elegant and subtle, supported by an extremely refined texture. It ends long, silky and velvety, showing great balance and precision. A wine that offers immediate pleasure but can also develop in bottle, recommended for drinking now or cellaring.
