Wine profile
Body
This wine: 4 out of 5 — closer to «full».
How heavy and full the wine feels in your mouth — from light like skimmed milk to rich like cream. It comes mainly from alcohol, extract and, in sweet wines, sugar.
Wine profile
Tannin
This wine: 2 out of 5 — closer to «silky».
Tannins come from grape skins, seeds and oak. You feel them as a pleasant drying grip on gums and tongue — from silky and velvety to firm and chewy.
Wine profile
Acidity
This wine: 5 out of 5 — closer to «crisp».
The freshness that makes your mouth water, like a squeeze of lemon. It gives a wine tension, length and ageing potential, and makes it great with food.
Wine profile
Alcohol
This wine: 5 out of 5 — closer to «high» (14.5% vol.).
Alcohol brings warmth and body. Still wines usually sit between about 11% and 15% ABV, while fortified wines such as Port sit around 19–20%.

Description
Pio Cesare Mosconi Barolo DOCG 2019 is a prestigious red from old vines (planted in 1947 and 1971) in Monforte d'Alba, Piedmont. This single-"cru" Barolo stands out for its robust structure, silky tannins and great ageing potential, typically recommended for drinking between 2025 and 2045.
The Wine AdvocateRP 96Reviewed by: Monica Larner
The Pio Cesare 2019 Barolo Mosconi (with 6,685 bottles and larger formats on the market) delivers the structure and longevity of Monforte d'Alba Nebbiolo. I also pick up a saline mineral or rusty-iron tone wrapping a core of wild berries and blackcurrant. Mosconi always strikes me as very linear and direct, and that special sharpness is what I like most in this vintage.
Tasting Note (James Suckling)
Aromas: Described as extremely floral, with striking notes of violets and roses, with dark fruit and elegant touches of sandalwood and cedar. Notes of flint were also detected.
Palate: A medium- to full-bodied wine of great elegance.
Finish: Long and "almost endless".
Drinking Recommendation: Suckling suggests drinking from 2027.
Tasting Note (Wine Spectator)
Fruit Profile: Centred on ripe, vibrant cherry and raspberry notes.
Complexity: The wine gains depth with layers of iron, liquorice and tar.
Structure and Finish: A solid backbone and a long, intense finish marked by a saline thread (minerality).
Balance: Described as a ripe wine that nonetheless keeps a sense of restraint and elegance.
