This wine: 4 out of 5 — closer to «firm».
Tannins come from grape skins, seeds and oak. You feel them as a pleasant drying grip on gums and tongue — from silky and velvety to firm and chewy.
Wine profile

This wine: 3 out of 5 — right in the middle.
The freshness that makes your mouth water, like a squeeze of lemon. It gives a wine tension, length and ageing potential, and makes it great with food.

Description
Quinta da Boavista Vinha do Ujo 2021 is one of the Douro's most prestigious and exclusive reds, from a historic vineyard planted in 1930. This iconic north-facing plot is a mix of more than 25 traditional grapes (Field Blend), giving it an extraordinarily complex, fresh profile. Signed by winemakers Ricardo Macedo and Jean-Claude Berrouet, the wine ages for 16 months in French oak barrels, showing a deep, elegant structure with excellent ageing potential.
Quinta da Boavista Vinha do Ujo 2021 reveals all the complexity of the estate's old vines, in a blend of 28 traditional varieties. The nose is intense and enveloping, marked by notes of forest fruit, blackberry and blueberry, wrapped in nuances of pine needles and resin. On the palate it stands out for the freshness and elegance from grapes grown on the estate's highest slopes, balanced by firm, well-defined tannic structure. The finish is long and persistent, leaving hints of morello, cherry, fine oak and graphite. A distinctive, deep wine, ideal with grilled red meat.
