Description
Chianti Classico Tenuta di Fizzano Gran Selezione 2021 (made by the prestigious Rocca delle Macìe) is an exceptional, structured, elegant Tuscan red. The 2021 vintage benefits from one of the best recent years in Chianti Classico, giving a fresh, vibrant profile with excellent ageing potential.
Wine Spectator describes the 2021 Chianti Classico Tenuta Fizzano “Il Crocino” Gran Selezione as a dense, firm red, highlighting aromas of wild rosemary, eucalyptus and wood, balanced by cherry and plum. Rated 94 points, the wine is recommended for drinking from 2024 to 2038, with immediate decanting suggested given its structured, savoury profile.
In his official April 2024 review, James Suckling gave 93 points to the 2021 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Tenuta di Fizzano “Il Crocino”, describing it as a wine of great precision and vitality. On the nose it shows intense aromatic expression, with ripe cherry, raspberry and orange peel, complemented by delicate floral hints and a subtle touch of chocolate. On the palate it's medium-bodied, supported by firm, creamy tannins that give structure and elegance. The finish stands out for its energy and persistence, with a vibrant, focused profile and a strong presence on the palate.
