Description
Altesino Brunello di Montalcino 2020 is an exceptional Italian red, acclaimed by international critics and made from 100% Sangiovese (Sangiovese Grosso) in the prestigious Montalcino area of Tuscany. This vintage stands out for its freshness, elegance and silky texture, skilfully managed to balance the ripeness of a warm year.
The Wine AdvocateRP 95Reviewed by: Monica Larner
Opening with earthy notes of sulphur and petrichor, the Altesino 2020 Brunello di Montalcino shows the character of an easily recognisable house style. This elegant wine offers a polished, soft texture in the mouth, with finely tuned tannins. The oak is also skilfully handled, bringing a light touch of spice that integrates deeply into a silky texture. Among the village Brunellos I tasted from the 2020 vintage, this one shows excellent quality and will be easy to find thanks to its large production of 110,000 bottles.

James Suckling's tasting note:
Altesino Brunello di Montalcino 2020 shows a refined, enveloping aromatic expression, marked by delicate floral notes, fresh raspberry and ripe black cherry, complemented by subtle nuances of violet. On the palate it's medium-bodied, with dense, textured tannins that are already perfectly integrated and polished, giving balance and harmony. The finish is long, persistent and intense, showing the quality of the work done in this vintage. Although it has potential to improve after 2026, it already shows excellent structure and great drinking pleasure.
