Quinta do Couquinho: Tradition and Excellence in Douro Wine

1 min read Paulo Castro

Nestled in the heart of the world's oldest demarcated wine region, Quinta do Couquinho is a true haven of wine and idyllic landscapes. Located in the "terra quente" (hot land) of the Douro Superior, the estate covers around 60 hectares, 50 of which are given over to vines and olive trees, interspersed with almond, orange, apple, fig and other fruit trees that make the area even more beautiful. Its prime location in the Alto Douro Wine Region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001, makes it one of the most sought-after terroirs in the Douro.

The Excellence of Quinta do Couquinho Wines

Quinta do Couquinho's wines are made through a rigorous process of selection and winemaking, led by experienced winemaker Victor Fonseca Rabaçal. The estate's winery can produce up to 200,000 litres of wine a year, ensuring meticulous quality control in every bottle.

The Douro's main traditional grapes, such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Sousão, bring Quinta do Couquinho's wines to life, reflecting the soul of Trás-os-Montes and the unique character of its terroir. After fermentation, the wines are aged in French oak barrels, gaining complexity and sophistication before bottling.

Recognition and Awards

The quality of Quinta do Couquinho's wines has been widely recognised through awards and distinctions at international competitions. Their elegant, harmonious style wins over wine lovers around the world, making every bottle an invitation to discover the authentic flavours of the Douro.

More than wine, Quinta do Couquinho offers an unrivalled wine experience, where tradition meets innovation to create true bottled masterpieces. These wines are impossible to resist, transporting us into a world of unique and memorable sensations.
