A long-held passion for the land, the Douro and wine led him to leave his previous life in the beer business at Unicer and settle in Folgosa, on the south bank of the Douro river. On the small estate, where traditional Douro vines had grown for decades, with a fantastic position overlooking the river and valley, he decided to listen to his friends and devote himself, heart and soul, to his own wine. With the support of his wife, Joana Queiroz Ribeiro, António is taking the first steps in creating a brand that will get people talking, which they both promise will be limited in production, strong in identity and full of inspiration.
Made from traditional Douro old vines, this premium wine reflects the passion and dedication of António Augusto Ferreira and Joana Queiroz Ribeiro, with precise winemaking by Jean-Hugues Gros. Made from emblematic grapes such as Touriga Nacional and Tinta Francisca, it has an intense, vibrant ruby colour.
Quinta Dona Francisca Grande Reserva 2017 has a striking personality and remarkable elegance. The nose is deep and enveloping, with a complex bouquet of ripe red fruit delicately interwoven with subtle spice and elegant notes of dried herbs, giving it a sophisticated aromatic dimension.
On the palate it is a wine of great balance and harmony. Its structure is supported by well-integrated acidity and perfectly balanced alcohol, which together bring freshness and vivacity. The fine, silky tannins are masterfully polished and wrapped in discreet, very well-integrated oak that respects the purity of the fruit and adds depth and complexity without ever dominating.
Subtlety, elegance and refinement are the words that define this wine. The finish is long, persistent and enveloping, marked by a vibrant freshness that points to excellent ageing potential in bottle.
Quinta Dona Francisca Grande Reserva 2077 is the expression of winemaking that combines tradition and modernity, ideal for special occasions and for pairing with sophisticated dishes, elevating any dining experience.
