The very classical 2021 San Román shows the house style, with ripe, concentrated reds generously marked by oak, made from Tempranillo (or Tinta de Toro), but with enough balance and elegance to develop and integrate the oak with time in bottle.
What's more, 2021 was a great vintage in the region for them — cooler, with adequate rain and an excellent balance of acidity, alcohol (14.5%) and structure. The wine matured in French oak barrels of different sizes and aged for 24 months.
It shows notes of black fruit, touches of graphite, liquorice and ink, and a medium to full-bodied palate with very fine, elegant, polished tannins.
120,000 bottles were produced.
It was bottled in December 2023.
