Description
Montalegre naturally brings together the ideal conditions for maturing and ageing mountain wines.
Montalegre also has lower atmospheric pressure and lower oxygen levels because of its altitude, and a mild climate with fewer temperature peaks, which favours a controlled development of aromas and flavours during ageing for a wine meant to have character.
And Mont’Alegre has character: wines made from native grapes of the Trás-os-Montes region, from vineyards on mainly granite soils at altitudes above 650 metres. Later, everything happens in Montalegre, thanks to its superb natural conditions for maturing and ageing wines, giving them freshness, balance and elegance. Above all, giving them identity.
“You can take a man out of his land. You can never take the mark of the land out of the man.” It was with this aim of returning to my roots and rediscovering identity that I decided to age my wines in Montalegre, my birthplace. Through quality and exclusivity I seek to recognise Montalegre and give back to it with the Mont’Alegre seal.
For all this – and above all for the family heritage of earthy celebration – Mont’Alegre wines are also the perfect match for the intensity and flavour of Barroso's smoked meats.
A lively aroma with notes of red and black fruit and some minerality. On the palate it's fresh, lively and has some depth. A fresh, vibrant finish. Ageing at altitude naturally intensifies the characteristics of Trás-os-Montes wines, giving them density and longevity both on the palate and in the bottle.
