Description
Cap Maritime South Coast Pinot Noir 2023 is a cool-climate South African red made by the prestigious Boekenhoutskloof in the Hemel-en-Aarde valley. It's known for its elegance, with an aromatic profile of ripe red fruit, spice and earthy notes.
The Wine AdvocateRP 93Reviewed by: Monica Larner
From a charming valley whose name translates as “heaven on earth”, the Boekenhoutskloof 2023 Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley Pinot Noir has a light colour with ruby and purple glints. It's made with a classic Dijon clone that adapts well to clay soils and iron-rich koffieklip. These environmental qualities give the wine a real sense of firmness and energy, noticeable in the tannins and flavours.
James Suckling: 91 Points (August 2024)
Described as a fresh, "crunchy" red, with notes of cranberries, raw mushrooms, sour cherries and citrus peel on the nose. Suckling highlights its juicy, bright, medium-bodied palate.
Platter’s South African Wine Guide 2025: 4.5 Stars (90 Points)
The benchmark guide to South African wine rates it a "textbook" cool-climate Pinot Noir, praising the freshness and character from fermentation with 25% whole bunches.
Vivino: 4.2 / 5.0 (Community average)
Users highlight its complexity, above the norm for its price range, noting a balanced, elegant finish.
