Description
Raventós i Blanc De la Finca is a prestigious biodynamic Spanish sparkling wine made in Catalonia by the historic Raventós i Blanc. Made by the traditional method, it stands out for having voluntarily left D.O. Cava to join Conca del Riu Anoia, a strict geographical designation created to express the mineral terroir and typicity of the estate's marine-fossil-rich soils.

De La Finca comes exclusively from estate vineyards, with 60% Xarel.lo, 30% Macabeu and 10% Parellada, and gains more complexity and nuance from extended ageing: no less than 30 months in bottle on the lees, closed with a cork after the second fermentation. It's totally dry, with no adjustments, and sold as brut nature.
It has a bright, almost fluorescent yellow colour and a very expressive nose, with notes of yeast and Mediterranean herbs. It's subtler and more complex, with smaller, better-integrated bubbles and a vibrant, clean, precise and extremely tasty palate.
The grapes come from hillside plots already classified by Pepe Raventós's grandfather. Yields there are lower, even more so in this vintage, which shows clearly in the wine, since it's always made from the same plots. Whole bunches are pressed for greater ageing potential, and fermentation takes place in concrete, always aiming for a long-lived wine.
It's a generous wine from a generous year. 55,000 bottles and 1,000 magnums were produced.
