• Ex-bourbon: American oak that first aged bourbon (US law requires new casks for bourbon, so many are available second-hand); they tend to give vanilla, coconut and caramel.
A finish is a final period of maturation in a second cask.

A 700 ml bottle gives about 17 measures of 4 cl. Once opened, store it upright, tightly closed and away from light and heat: spirits keep well for months but slowly lose aroma once the bottle is half empty.

Description
Laphroaig Quarter Cask revives an old technique: after maturing in bourbon casks, the whisky moves into small casks a quarter of the usual size, known as quarter casks. Greater contact with the wood speeds up maturation and adds sweetness and texture.
Bottled at 48% without chill filtration, it combines Laphroaig signature smoke with notes of coconut, ripe banana and spice. The palate is full, with peat, vanilla, caramel and pepper. The finish is long, sweet and smoky.
A great balance of intensity and smoothness if you want a creamier Islay. Serve neat or with a drop of water. It pairs with grilled meat, smoked ribs, aged cheeses and caramel milk chocolate.
