• Ex-bourbon: American oak that first aged bourbon (US law requires new casks for bourbon, so many are available second-hand); they tend to give vanilla, coconut and caramel.

A 700 ml bottle gives about 17 measures of 4 cl. Once opened, store it upright, tightly closed and away from light and heat: spirits keep well for months but slowly lose aroma once the bottle is half empty.

Description
Redbreast 15 Year Old is the more mature, more intense version of the classic Midleton single pot still. Three extra years in oloroso sherry and bourbon casks, plus bottling at 46% without chill filtration, give it greater depth, more dried fruit and an even more unctuous texture than the celebrated 12 year old.
Matured for 15 years in oloroso sherry casks and bourbon casks and bottled at 46%, it shows red berries, dried fig, clove and toffee on the nose. The palate is rich and dense, with raisins, dark chocolate, ginger and walnuts. The finish is very long, with walnuts, spice and oak.
A generous, enveloping after-dinner whisky. Serve it neat in a nosing glass and add a drop of water to open the aromas. It pairs with dark chocolate, nuts, fruit cake and aged cheeses.
