Description

A’bunadh is Aberlour’s natural-strength legend from Speyside, and the word means the origin in Gaelic. The classic is made in sherry butts, but Alba takes another path: it matures only in first-fill American bourbon casks, non-chill filtered and bottled in batches at cask strength, showing the sweeter, brighter side of the distillery.

Matured in bourbon casks and virgin oak and bottled at 58.9%, it shows honey, vanilla, pear and coconut on the nose. The palate is lively and intense, with toffee, tropical fruit, cinnamon and ginger. The finish is long, with vanilla, spice and oak.

Bottled at high strength, it rewards patience: taste it neat first and then with a few drops of water to see how the aromas change in the glass. A bottle for collectors and demanding enthusiasts.
