Description

GlenAllachie in Speyside has gained international fame since industry veteran Billy Walker bought it in 2017 and began bottling its whiskies non-chill filtered and with natural colour. The 12 Year Old is the pillar of the range and the best example of the house style, built on Pedro Ximénez and oloroso sherry casks.

Matured for 12 years in Pedro Ximénez casks, oloroso sherry casks and virgin oak and bottled at 46%, it shows raisins, dried fig, toffee and cinnamon on the nose. The palate is rich and dense, with dark chocolate, dates, honey and ginger. The finish is long, with walnuts, spice and caramel.

A generous, enveloping after-dinner whisky. Serve it neat in a nosing glass and add a drop of water to open the aromas. It pairs with dark chocolate, nuts, fruit cake and aged cheeses.
