Description

Ardbeg An Oa takes its name from the Mull of Oa peninsula, the southernmost point of Islay, battered by the Atlantic wind. It is the roundest and most approachable Ardbeg in the core range: whiskies from several cask types are married in a large French oak vat, the Gathering Vat, where they rest together before non-chill filtered bottling.

Matured in bourbon casks, Pedro Ximénez casks and virgin oak and bottled at 46.6%, it shows peat smoke, toffee, peach and aniseed on the nose. The palate is creamy, with peat smoke, honey, cinnamon and almond. The finish is long, with embers, caramel and spice.

For lovers of smoke, it is an essential bottle. Drink it neat or with a drop of water, which reveals the sweetness hidden behind the peat. It pairs with oysters, smoked salmon, grilled meats and blue cheese.
