The Páramos de Corcos, located at an altitude of more than 960 meters between the municipalities of Burgos de Fuentemolinos and Moradillo de Roa, is an area of 10,000 hectares that lives all year round under the harsh Castilian climatic conditions, with extreme temperatures that allow obtain grapes of the highest quality, ranging between 40 degrees in summer and 15 degrees below zero in winter.

Bardos was born precisely as a tribute to the peasants who live in these wild areas taking care of their vineyards, dedicating their lives to rural areas in a land of extremes. To honor these heroes, the winery works with the greatest respect for the grapes, in an artisanal way, harvesting manually, using only native yeasts and selected French oak barrels, avoiding filtering the wines, techniques with which the perfect balance between power and finesse , complexity and intensity is achieved.

The age of Bardos vines generally varies between 30 and 60 years, although there are also vines that are over 80 years old. These are Tinta del País (Tempranillo) vineyards perfectly adapted to the continental climate. The youngest, in turn, correspond to the small percentage of Cabernet sauvignon that is used to make some of the project's wines. Likewise, Bardos owns some Verdejo vineyards in La Seca (Valladolid) from which he makes a white wine.

Bodegas Bardos produces three red wines in which the Tempranillo grape variety is the protagonist: Bardos Romántica, a red crianza made entirely from this grape variety; Bardos Reserva, in which a small percentage of Cabernet sauvignon is incorporated; and Bardos Suprema, with 30 months of aging in barrels. To these three references is added a Verdejo de Rueda obtained from vineyards planted in the heart of that region.

After a dry winter, spring arrived full of rain, allowing us to store this much-needed water throughout the extremely dry summer. Low spring temperatures delayed the emergence of the vine, starting the vegetative cycle late. A delay that was regulated by the high temperatures recorded in the months of July and August, to the point of delaying maturation in younger vines. The 2016 harvest broke the production record of the 2014 harvest, and not only in terms of production, but also in quality due to the unbeatable climatic conditions and the excellent health of the vines. The wines from this harvest are very full, with good ability to withstand the weather, with roundness and spectacular tannins. A vintage throwback to the late 80s and early 90s.
