Robert Parker: A strong effort that demonstrates how much this bottle has progressed over the past 10 to 15 years. The 2021 Carruades de Lafite showcases aromas of sweet red fruits, pencil shavings, warm spices and well-integrated oak. Medium to full-bodied, deep and intensely impressive, it is refined and harmonious, delivering much of the typical Lafite character.
James Suckling: Smooth and attractive character in this wine, with a polished tannin structure and a juicy central palate. Medium body with velvety, moderate tannins. Juicy. Composition: 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot.
Falstaff: A vibrant dark ruby colour with purple highlights on the narrow rim. Ripe dark cherries, a hint of blackberries, floral notes, candied orange zest and a light touch of fig in the background. Juicy, elegant, fresh, well-structured, with fine tannins and vibrant acidity; a harmonious and lively accompaniment to meals, with a salty red fruit finish. It has a promising future and good ageing potential.
