A blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon and 23% Merlot, the 2023 Grand-Puy-Lacoste has turned out very well, evoking aromas of cassis, dark berries, cigar wrapper and rose petals, lifted by a delicate minty nuance. Medium to full-bodied, enveloping and harmonious, it's built on fine, velvety tannins, with a layered texture on the palate carrying a long, vibrant, saline finish. A classic from this estate, it still stands out as a particularly successful vintage and excellent value.

Published: 9 April 2026.

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2023 received an outstanding review from James Suckling, who gave it 96 points and highlighted the remarkable precision of its making and its faithful expression of the estate's classic style.

On the nose it shows great aromatic purity and striking freshness, with intense aromas of blackcurrant and wild blackberry. Delicate youthful floral notes enrich the whole, with nuances of cedar, lavender, liquorice and spice from oak ageing, complemented by the graphite minerality that defines the great wines of Pauillac.

On the palate it's medium to full-bodied, combining elegance and depth. The texture stands out for its remarkable smoothness, almost ethereal, supported by vibrant energy and excellent balance. Fine, perfectly ripe tannins frame expressive, juicy fruit, carrying a long, precise, persistent finish.
