95+ Robert Parker and 97 points James Suckling
Another star of the Margaux appellation, Château Palmer offers a very different style to its neighbour, Château Margaux. Due to the difference in grape varieties (it is the Médoc cru that includes the highest proportion of Merlot in its final blend), Château Palmer wines offer an opulence, harmony and smoothness that are unusual in this production area. Since 2004, Thomas Duroux’s management of the vineyards has allowed the wine to gain in precision and regularity, leading to the top performances in the latest vintages. The second wine, Alter Ego, meets the same high standards as the grand vin, but is designed to be drunk younger.
