The Wine Advocate: The Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Pianrosso is a single-vineyard expression, drawing its fruit from an 11.7-hectare plot with moderately thick galestro soils rich in ancient marine material. This special site, bathed in the bright light of a wide, open sky, gives a more pronounced mineral signature, with essences of wild red fruit, roses and rosemary. This is a beautiful wine, firm and silky, with elegant tannins that will support ambitious bottle ageing. Production is 37,000 bottles.

James Suckling: There's a lot of complexity here, with black plums, ripe cherries, cedar, smoke and cocoa on the nose. Notes of ash, chocolate, crushed walnuts and a touch of praline. Mushrooms. Firm, ripe tannins and a full body. A tasty, juicy finish. Very structured. Drink from 2025.
