Description
Romano Dal Forno, in the Val d'Illasi east of Verona, is one of the most sought-after names in Amarone, with a style of enormous concentration. The Amarone della Valpolicella from the Monte Lodoletta vineyard is its top wine and is made only in the best vintages.
The grapes, Corvina, Rondinella, Croatina and Oseleta, are dried for months before fermentation, and the wine is aged in new barriques. The 2017 is 16.5% abv and shows very ripe black fruit, cocoa, spice and balsamic notes, with a dense texture and a very long finish.
Pair with game, braised meat and well-aged cheese. Serve at 16–18 °C after decanting.
Store the bottle lying down, away from light and vibration, at a steady 12 to 14 °C. At Vinogrande every bottle is carefully packed so it reaches you in the best condition.
