99 points Robert Parker and 96 points James Suckling

The love affair between critics and this red wine from the joint project of Alejandro Vigil and Adrianna Catena is endless. After the 100 Parker rating given to the 2013 vintage, this 2019 vintage has once again achieved the maximum score , also awarded by James Suckling. There is much to be said about this blend of Cabernet Franc and Malbec from vineyards grown at an altitude of over 1,400 meters, but nothing compares to the privilege of enjoying its refinement, elegance and longevity .

The Wine Advocate: The Gran Enemigo Gualtallary Single Vineyard 2020 is simply phenomenal. It is very fresh and balanced, and for a hot year like 2020, it is not overly hot or overpowering; it is subtle and has an ethereal character within the powerful and exuberant profile of Gualtallary. It was fermented in concrete with indigenous yeasts and some whole clusters, sometimes up to 70% of the volume. It is intense and powerful, but something makes it seem light and with great inner strength. It remains youthful and should develop very well in the bottle for a long time. A total of 9,000 bottles were produced. It was bottled in July 2021 after maturing in large oak foudres for 15 months.

James Suckling: Notes of ink and licorice with aromas of blackberry and black olive. Medium to full body, with round, fine tannins that are crisp and refined. It has a juicy feel and a savory finish. Just a hint of cedar and caramel on the finish. Drinkable now, but will be even better in a year or two.
