Winemaker Alessandro Bindocci compares the 2019 and 2016 vintages as follows: "Both Brunellos are quite classic, but the 2019 has more energy and fruit than the 2016 at the same stage."

It opens as a medium-dark appearance with a beautiful Sangiovese sparkle and ruby red shine. In the glass, the 2019 shows a romantic, wild side and a dense fruit profile. The aromatic focus is on blackberries, dried cherries, tobacco and a touch of smoked tobacco or horse saddle. On the palate, a contrasting spectacle of dark red fruits, sweet spices and salty mineral notes; all supported by a silky texture and lively acidity. As it progresses, it has a beautiful, firm grip and a stable backbone, with youthful tension and fine tannins, which will give it great aging potential. Il Poggione is a safe bet every year, and not just for us, and the 2019 edition is once again one of the best representatives of this noble denomination.
