Description:
Champagne Jacquesson is run by brothers Jean-Hervé and Laurent Chiquet, who over the last two decades have successfully consolidated the house's position among the leading champagne producers. Based in Dizy in the Valle de la Marne, Jacquesson has a selection of exceptional vineyards in the Grande Vallée de la Marne and the Côte des Blancs, including excellent Grand Cru plots in Aÿ, Avize and Oiry.
This magnificent single-vineyard vintage Champagne is crafted from a 1.3 hectare plot of land that was planted with Chardonnay in the 1960s. Jasquesson's signature style includes zero dosage and extended lees aging, as well as a laser focus in terroir and purity of flavor. This particular cuvée is aged for eight years on the lees in the bottle and is highly sought after thanks to the small production that is only made in the best vintages.
Jacquesson's Champ Cain had already received praise from major wine publications, such as Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate, which gave the 2008 vintage 97 points. The nose is wonderfully complex with notes of toasted almonds, brioche and honeysuckle, while the palate reveals a delicate mousse, refreshing flavors of spices and nuts and a dry finish thanks to the zero dosage. A wonderful champagne to serve now for a special occasion or to store for another decade.
